Services rendered for Transit vessels are as follow:

  • Provision, freshwater, bonded store supply at Istanbul roads and Dardanelles.
  • Crew changes & Inspector +superintendent attendances at Istanbul roads
  • Garbage/sludge/slop/bilge water reception at Istanbul roads
  • Bunker/Lubricating oil supply at Istanbul roads

Rules for transiting through the straits

  • All vessels which will pass through the Turkish Straits should advise their arrival details (SP1 report) at least 24 hours before arrival to the first Turkish Strait at each way.
  • Any change of SP1 must be updated immediately through the ship agent.
  • If there is any failure of AIS system, please inform us 48 hours advance or latest by SP1 report.
  • All vessels anchoring to Istanbul Roads should take permission from VTS Kadiköy by VHF Channel 14.
  • All stays including supplies/crew change/repairs are permitted(without an increase on dues) within 48 hours at anchorage.
  • All vessels have the right to drift and to take supply(excluding bunkers & FW) at roads without anchoring.
  • Vessels staying at anchorage more than 48 hours are obliged to change their status from “Transit” to “Free Pratique”.
  • This causes an increase in transit dues of “light dues” and “sanitary dues”.
  • Following mistakes may cause a very high penalty in Turkish waters including straits:
  • Throwing garbage into the sea.
  • Cleaning/washing weather deck.
  • Paint drops to the sea.
  • Sewage and grey water discharge systems should be closed during Marmara and straits.
